Dziękujemy wszystkim! Thanks everybody! Your support of the Krakowiaki's effort has been overwhelming. More than 2500 paczki were made and sold this year. This will enable us to purchase the new costumes we need for this summer's shows!!
FOLK GROUP ANNOUNCES POLISH ANNUAL PĄCZKI SALE Prepaid orders accepted February 1st-March 3th Eating pączki is the traditional Polish way to indulge before the fasting in observance of Lent that begins on Ash Wednesday. Although they look like jelly doughnuts, pączki are made from especially rich dough containing eggs, fats, sugar and sometimes milk. Traditionally, a small amount of Spiritus or grain alcohol is added to the dough before cooking. As it evaporates, it prevents the absorption of oil deep into the dough. Once again this year, the Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle will be selling these delicious seasonal treats for your enjoyment. Filling flavors are plain, apricot, raspberry, plum and custard. They will be ready for pick-up on Monday, March 7 from 5-7 PM at St. Columba Cathedral parish hall so you can enjoy them with your family on Fat Tuesday morning. Costs are $1/ pączek; $5/six pączki and $10/one dozen. Preordered and prepaid orders only.
All proceeds benefit the Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle costume fund. Hamtramck, Michigan is considered the pączki capitol of the world. Each year they add music, dancing and celebrating to their pączki process. PolishYoungstown is considering a bus to enjoy the festivities on Saturday March 5th.
