Buy a Brick Campaign

For years the site of a neighborhood gas station, Peterson Park is now a bucolic oasis at the center of a village rich in history. This peninsular park was created with donations from the Peterson Family and the efforts of Town One Streetscapes.  It is the mission of this not-for-profit corporation to develop community programs and assist Poland Village and Poland Township in improving the streets of the community with sidewalks, trees and flowers.

The focal point of the park is a life-size sculpture by local artist Tom Antonishak portraying Gens. Casimir Pułaski and Tadeusz Kościuszko—the two Polish generals in whose honor the village and township were named. The statue is the only in the nation depicting these two Revolutionary War patriots together.
The group recently welcomed the Polish Veterans Monument into the Peterson Park Garden. This magnificent granite memorial is dedicated to Polish émigré veterans of World Wars I and II. It was erected at its location on South Avenue in 1970 by the Youngstown chapter of the Polish Army War Veterans of America. That group is now defunct and the former Polski Dom, known as Krakusy Hall, has been vacant for several years.

Make the park more accessible and be part of history! PolishYoungstown has launched a campaign to sell 500 memorial bricks to make Peterson Park more accessible. The lava rock that currently covers the park, although attractive, makes it inaccessible for seniors and others who might be physically challenged to visit and enjoy the park.

Choose from two brick sizes (see form for examples):
  • $50  Standard (4” x 8”) up to three lines of text
  • $250 Infinity (12x12 engraved granite ) Room for logo and up to six lines of text.

BONUS: As a thank you for your contribution, each order will be sent a Donor Certificate.  Suitable for framing, these laser-printed certificates on heavy ivory paper have a colored brick with the donor's inscription in it.
