POLISH ARTS CLUB 77TH ANNUAL
SCHOLARSHIP, ART, MUSIC & TEA RECEPTION

On Sunday, February 17, 2013, the Polish Arts Club of Youngstown hosted their 77th Annual Scholarship, Art, Music & Tea Reception. Gathering in the Butler North location of the Butler Institute of American Art, they rewarded four undergraduates for their scholarship: Laure Baker, Emily Begala, Vincent Dangerfield, and Auggie Heschmeyer. Also receiving $500 scholarships were graduate students Sean Petiya and Autumn Lotze. Scholarship Chair Lisa Lotze shared copies of the essays they had written on Polish nationals.

Stanley Gerchak and Angela Messenger performed a bilingual reading of Do prostego czlowieka, "To the Common Man", in honor of the 60th anniversary of the death of Polish poet Julian Tuwim. Dr. Ewelina Boczkowska also shared an insightful discussion of mazurkas before her Dana School of Music colleague, Dr. Cicilia Yudha, beautifully performed a number of Chopin’s mazurkas on the piano. The event concluded with a tea and cookie reception.
